Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are there any hard/proven facts concerning the paranormal?
A: No. There are many wide ranging, and often diverse, theories concerning the many different fields of the paranormal, but no proven facts.
Q: How does a person become an "expert" in the field of Paranormal Studies?
A: Many "Experts" are self appointed or self proclaimed. There are some legitimate colleges that offer studies in the paranormal fields but most studies are offered by people who are at creating curricula than they are at proving or disproving the paranormal. While we believe that you can be a paranormal expert the term simply means that you have dedicated many years studying the various theories involved and the investigatory methods used to prove or disprove the physical manifestations associated with the paranormal.
Q: What instruments are used to detect paranormal phenomena?
A: None. There are no instruments that measure Paranormal Phenomena. What many investigators do is use a variety of instruments to quantify the physical aspects of a reported paranormal activity in hopes of finding discernible patterns. Often an area associated with repeated sightings will prove to have fluctuating levels of EMF. The problem is delineating between the Cause, and the Effect. Does the paranormal CAUSE the high EMF readings, or do high EMF readings produce feelings associated with paranormal experiences.
Q: Can a person be haunted, or only places?
A: The most widely accepted theory is that only places can be haunted. There are many reports of ghost "following" families or individuals from one place to another, but these are rare. The bottom line here is that Neither option can be proven.
Q: Does a person have to die in a place for it to become haunted?
A: The most common theory for this question is YES, but there are many cases involving new buildings that are haunted. People often attribute this to the land around the building being haunted. This may be an explanation, supported by the reports of ghost walking through walls that were not originally there when the building was old. There is another theory that upon death a persons spirit may return to a place that they have found memories of such as a childhood home, or home of a loved family member.
Q: If a persons spirit stays here on earth, isn't that proof that heaven and hell are not real?
A: No, not for us. We try to stay away from peoples religious beliefs. Questions like that are best answered by people more in tune with your belief structure.
Q: Are ghost sightings cultural phenomenas?
A: Possible, but not likely. Most cultures have tales of ghost. Many cultures openly embrace the possibility of a ghostly existence and include the spirits of the departed into all important family functions.
Q: Is the OUIJA board a legitimate way to communicate with the dead?
A: Uhhhh... The jury is still out on this one.
Q: Will I become possessed if I play with a OUIJA board?
A: There is no way to prove this one one way or the other. At best the answer is NO, you will only become $14.00 poorer (If you are the one who bought it), and at worse, and you do end up spinning your head around like an owl, we are back to the problem of cause and effect. Did the board cause it, or did your openness to the situation cause it?
