(We want to stress that this investigation was carried out with express permission by the Town. )
The 7 of us arrived at the cemetery at approx. 6:30 PM. The weather was quite cold. 38 degrees (50+ forecasted), but the wind chill made it feel much colder! After a quick walk around the entire area, we divided into groups, each taking a position near one of the points of interest.
We set up a reel-to-reel tape recorder by the spot where the Rocking Chair once sat in hopes of capturing EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena). Upon listening to the almost 2 hours worth of tape, we heard several instances of sounds which were not clear enough to identify. Most of this we attribute to device noise.
We shot several roles of 35mm B/W Film, and upon inspection of the developed images saw only 1 instance of anything out of the ordinary: one of the frames shows a white "cloudy" substance that appears to be floating before the camera. The distance from the camera is sufficient for it to come into focus, and to be lit by the on camera flash. This was the 4th in a series of shots taken in rapid succession. The pictures before and after this one do NOT show this substance, and nothing was evident to the photographer either before or after these pictures were taken. (The image DOES show up on the negative)
One of the photographers placed a Sony 8mm Handicam (with a freshly charged battery) upon a small stone and wood bench to try and capture something in that area. After being gone only 5 minutes she returned to find that the battery was completely drained. A battery that was supposed to (and in the past has) supply up to 1.5 hours, lasted a little over 20 minutes. Relaying this to a second photographer, he went to "check out" this part of the cemetery. Upon arriving at the bench he sat down to rest for approx 5 - 10 minutes and to talk with one of the others present. After standing up he decided to get a picture of the bench only to find that his camera was also completely drained. This battery was tested prior to the outing (As were ALL batteries) and tested good. The flash remained charged, as did the motor wind, but the primary battery for the camera body was dead.
